Dr. Annie Tamara Chizengo is a distinguished educator, researcher, and advocate for inclusive and transformative higher education. She holds a PhD in Higher Education (Distance Education) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, a Master of Arts and a Postgraduate Diploma in Distance Education from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in India, a Bachelor of Education in Business Studies (Technical Education) from the University of Malawi, a Diploma in Education (Human Ecology) from Domasi College of Education, and a Certificate in Education from Lilongwe–Chayamba Teachers’ Training College.


As Head of the Open, Distance and eLearning (ODeL) Centre at MUBAS, Dr. Chizengo leads institutional initiatives that promote digital transformation, flexible learning, and access to quality education. She has been instrumental in advancing the MUBAS Offline ODeL Digital Library Project, which supports remote learning and resource accessibility for students and lecturers across the university.


Beyond MUBAS, Dr. Chizengo serves as a Commonwealth of Learning (CoL) Consultant on the Fostering Students’ Employability through ODeL: A Collection of Case Studies (2025) initiative. Her extensive research and academic contributions reflect her commitment to equity, innovation, and lifelong learning in higher education.


Her work continues to inspire a new generation of learners and educators, particularly in leveraging technology to expand opportunities and promote excellence across the education sector.
