Steven Chirambo leads the Internal Audit Department at MUBAS, reporting functionally to the University Council and administratively to the Vice-Chancellor. In this role, he provides the institution with independent and objective assurance on the efficacy of control systems, corporate governance, and risk management. His work is central to adding value and improving the university's operations through strategic insights and recommendations.

A highly qualified finance and audit professional, Steven is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). He further holds a Master's in Business Administration from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) and a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Malawi. His extensive expertise spans internal and external audit, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, and policy development.

A notable professional achievement includes his successful leadership in setting up and operationalising the Internal Audit Department at MUBAS from its inception. His vision is to uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability, positioning the Internal Audit Department as a trusted business advisor that strengthens decision-making, enhances efficiency, and supports the University in achieving its strategic mission.
