Associate Professor Rhoda Cynthia Chozenga Bakuwa leads the promotion and advancement of knowledge through postgraduate studies at MUBAS. In her role, she is responsible for developing and reviewing policies and strategies to uphold the highest academic standards. She oversees the monitoring and enforcement of postgraduate education quality, and coordinates the critical processes of student selection, admission, and assessment.


With a strong academic foundation in development policy and management, Associate Professor Bakuwa holds a PhD and an MSc in Human Resource Development from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. She brings a wealth of leadership experience from her previous roles as Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Head of the Business Administration Department. Her influence extends beyond the university through service as a University Senator and Council Member.


Her expertise in organization management, human resource development, and governance is further demonstrated through her significant contributions to national policy. She has served as Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of an independent Public Service Evaluation Team for the Government of Malawi and contributes to the National Planning Commission. She was also the country co-investigator for the global GLOBE 2020 research project.


Associate Professor Bakuwa’s vision is to offer an intellectually enriched postgraduate student experience through nationally and internationally recognized programmes. She is committed to ensuring these programmes are anchored on the principles of quality, efficiency, inclusiveness, and responsiveness.
