The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) would like to inform all its undergraduate students and the general public that the first semester for the 2025/2026 academic year will commence in January, 2026. All the concerned parties are requested to take note of the following dates and activities:

Opening Dates for the 2025/2026 Academic Year

OPEN DISTANCE AND e- LEARNING (ODe-L) PROGRAMMES

All newly selected students to pursue open distance and e-learning programmes are required to report at Blantyre Campus on 12th January 2026 for orientation and contact session, which will be conducted as follows:

12th to 23rd January, 2026: Orientation and contact session for all new ODe-L students

19th to 23rd January, 2026: Contact session for all ODe-L continuing students

FACE-TO-FACE PROGRAMMES

All newly selected and continuing face-to-face students should take note of the following opening dates for orientation and commencement of classes:

18th January, 2026: Arrival of generic Year 1 students

19th to 23rd January, 2026: Orientation of generic Year 1 students

23rd January, 2026: Orientation of mature entry students

24th and 25th January, 2026: Orientation of Diploma students (Weekend Programmes)

25th January, 2026: Arrival of all continuing students

26th January, 2026: Commencement of Teaching and Learning

Fees and Financial Contribution

All students are being reminded to pay their applicable fees/financial contributions towards their university education through the following banking details (for cash deposits or Mo626 or FDH One Click payments):

Students are therefore being encouraged to use their Student Financial Identification Number when making fees/financial contribution payments at the bank. The Student Financial Identification Number will have to be indicated on the account number column of the bank deposit slip. For all new students, the twelve-digit number called the student financial identification number has been indicated on your offer letter.

All students paying through cheques, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or transferring from other banks are advised to use account number 737461, the default account number for Polytechnic Revenue Account or account number 1850105626999 for FDH Bank MUBAS Tuition Fees Account.

Additionally, students must also indicate (on top of the bank deposit slip) their full names and programme of study. A copy of the bank deposit slip should be submitted to the Finance Office of the University. It is the responsibility of the students to ensure that appropriate fees/financial contributions have been paid and credited into the student's SMIS account.

Semester 1 Registration Period

Registration for all students will open on 26th January, 2026 and will close on 28th February, 2026. Only students who will have paid their financial contribution in full or, at a minimum, a quarter of the applicable fees will be allowed to register. Students who fail to register within the specified period will have their place reserved for the next academic year, whose calendar will be announced in due course.

University Accommodation

Students who have been offered University accommodation are advised to note that keys for their hostel rooms will be issued on 18th January, 2026 (for all new students) and 25th January, 2026 (for all continuing students). The collection of keys shall be done through the Directorate of Student Affairs, which shall open at 8.00 am on both days.

Students will be expected to pay applicable hostel rentals of K27,000 per month (K108,000 per semester) as stipulated in the terms and conditions of the offer from the Directorate of Student Affairs. All University payments are made through the bank.
