MDC commended for excellency
The Management Development Centre (MDC), a professional development centre of the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), has been commended for designing and delivering professional development programmes that respond to the needs of modern-day leadership.

Bywell Chiwoni who is Managing Director of Heritage Insurance Brokers Limited gave the remarks when he presided over the MDC Executive Management and Leadership Certificate presentation ceremony at MUBAS Campus in Blantyre on 12 December, 2025.


Chiwoni said high quality human capital training is crucial to the economic development of the country.


“The progress of our nation relies significantly on the leadership in our institutions. Whether in government, business, civil society, or entrepreneurship, today’s leaders must navigate intricacy, drive innovation, and consistently uphold strong ethical demands. I therefore commend MDC for developing tailor-made programmes aimed at enhancing leadership skills across various professions in the country,’’ he said.


He further said strong leadership skills open pathways to diverse professional growth and also contribute meaningfully to the development of organisations.


Chikondi Milanzi, one of the graduating participants said the six-month Executive Management and Leadership training has been an eye opener to her as it has provided her with more knowledge on leadership and management in the modern era.


“As a manager, sometimes you think you know everything but as the world keeps evolving, one also needs to acquire new management and leadership skills to keep in tune with demands of new business environment,” said Milanzi.


The training drew participants from both the public and private sector, and 19 participants received certificates after undergoing the six -month training.
