TEVETA Executive Director, Elwin Chiwembu Sichiola said this during a public lecture jointly organized by Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) and TEVETA on 09th April, 2026, under the theme "Partnership for Transformation: Skills development for Malawi 2063” which emphasized on the need for coordinated efforts across all players in the TEVET sector to achieve the aspirations of Malawi 2063.

In his lecture, Sichiola stressed the importance of collaboration, and said meaningful transformation cannot be achieved in isolation.

“Transformation will only be possible when all TEVET stakeholders such as government, universities, industry, development partners and the youth work in synergy to deliver relevant and responsive training that bridges the gap between theory and practice”, he said.

Sichiola further highlighted that partnerships are essential in ensuring that training programmes remain aligned with industry demands while equipping learners with practical, job ready skills.

Resonating the call for collaboration, MUBAS Executive Dean of School of Communication Education and Media Studies, Dr. Kizito Kanyoma commended the existing relationship between MUBAS and TEVETA and emphasized the need to deepen such partnerships to maximize impact.

“While stakeholders may be resourced differently, collaboration allows us to pool our strengths and work towards a shared goal of advancing skills development”, said Kanyoma.

The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including representatives from academia, industry, government, TEVET providers and students. As Malawi moves towards achieving Malawi 2063, strengthening collaboration across the TEVET ecosystem will be crucial in developing a skilled workforce capable of driving economic growth and transformation.
