The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) 2025 Mental Health Week wrapped up on September 6, 2025. The event which ran from Monday, September 1, 2025, was held under the theme "Mental Health Care: A Universal Right’’.

Sponsored by FDH Bank, the week aimed to raise awareness about mental health care within the MUBAS community.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, MUBAS Vice Chancellor Associate Professor Nancy Chitera said the university has a responsibility to safeguard the mental well-being of its students and staff.

“As an institution, we cannot ignore the mental health challenges our students and staff face. We have sadly recorded cases of student suicides in the past. This is why we are strengthening awareness campaigns. Suicide is not a solution, and we want everyone to know that it’s okay not to be okay,” she said

FDH Bank's Corporate Banking Account Relationship Manager, Chawekha Chiwaka, assured continued support for initiatives promoting student welfare.

"FDH Bank will continue to support initiatives that promote mental health at MUBAS, believing a healthy mind is key to academic and professional success," she said.

During the week, students also competed in 2025 The Vice Chancellor's Trophy. The School of Business and Economic Sciences (SOBES) emerged as the overall winner, claiming 11 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals.
