Research Summary

The research focuses on the intersection of digital financial services, consumer behavior, and financial inclusion in Malawi. This doctoral work investigated mobile money adoption in Malawi, examining not only the factors influencing adoption but also actual usage patterns and their implications for financial inclusion.

Using a combination of survey data and real transactional records, the research provides a comprehensive analysis of how mobile money is used across rural and semi-urban populations, and evaluates whether increased access to digital financial platforms translates into meaningful financial participation.
