On 29 May 2024 the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences held it's first congregation, marking a historic milestone after attaining university status. The event brought together graduates, guardians, schools, and dignitaries in celebration of academic achievement and the institution's growing legacy in higher education.
MUBAS is turning its vision of becoming an entrepreneurship centered university into action. It owns a private commercial company known as MUBAS Commercial Limited (MCL) which harbors Mining, Furniture, Engineering and a media house. It also has a Business Incubation Centre which aims at equipping people(Incubates) with entrepreneurship expertise and funding innovative and entrepreneurial ideas.


MUBAS engages in Sports and Recreational activities to promotes holistic students and staff development by providing opportunities for physical fitness, teamwork, and personal growth through a wide range of sporting activities and recreational programs. It fosters a culture of wellness, discipline, and fair play while encouraging participation at all levels—from competitive sports to leisure activities. Through well-equipped facilities, organized events, and inclusive programs, the office ensures that every student/staff has the chance to develop a healthy lifestyle, discover talents, and build lifelong skills both on and off the field.




MUBAS recognizes its duty to give back to society by extending support to underprivileged communities. Beyond its academic mandate, MUBAS carries out outreach programmes that aim to uplift vulnerable groups through education, skills development, and social support initiatives. By engaging staff and students in community service, MUBAS demonstrates its commitment to creating inclusivity, reducing inequalities and contributing to national development.

The Annual Research and Innovation Exhibition provides a platform for showcasing groundbreaking research, creative solutions, and technological innovations. It brings together students, faculty, and external partners to present projects that address real-world challenges, foster collaboration, and inspire knowledge sharing. The 2025 Research and Innovation week under the theme, "Driving sustainable growth for an inclusive and entrepreneurial Malawi," highlighting the institution’s commitment to advancing research, nurturing creativity, and driving sustainable innovation.
